LlanNi
Community Group
The aims of the group are:-
-
to identify and help to realise projects the community feels are important,
-
to encourage community spirit by involving local residents, and
-
to be a catalyst for community development.
The first spark of the idea for a group came back in 2018 after contact with Adrian Roberts from Severn Wye, who were delivering the Rural Futures programme on behalf of The National Lottery Community Fund.

In January 2019 we held a ‘Rural Futures Story Studio’ event in the school hall to introduce the idea and get some community feedback. A total of 121 people came along to that event, and the feedback was very positive.

From there, a group of us moved some of the ideas forward and in December 2019 we distributed further questionnaires around the village to gauge interest in and support for several possible suggested projects. Jumping forward to April 2020 and LlanNi became a fully registered company limited by guarantee.
Mission & Vision
This past year we, like everyone else, have been hampered by Covid19 and its limitations but a core group have been working on four main projects. The first three are linked to Rural Futures, whereas the fourth is currently receiving support from Renew Wales.

-
A LlanNi website - to be a platform for all community groups in Llannerch-y-medd and offering free space to local businesses. As you can see this is up and running!
-
The possibility of a Community Hub / workshop / repair café – seen as an opportunity to encourage people to come together and share or learn existing or new skills.
-
A village planter project – enabling people to take part in learning how to build and maintain them.
-
The possible installation of an electric vehicle charging point on the Station Car Park.

Substantial funding is available from Rural Futures to support the first three projects, but in order to claim it successfully we need to provide evidence that the community are fully supportive of the ideas, and of Grŵp LlanNi Cyf.
Consultation & Feedback
LlanNi is very happy to promote the community’s hopes and aspirations for our historic village of Llannerch-y-medd, which was once the prime market town of Anglesey. We hope to help our village regain the pride of past years and celebrate and promote the skills, abilities and good will for one another that Llannerch-y-medd uniquely has.

It is important for the future of the group that we have more consultation with, and feedback from the residents of Llannerch-y-medd. This group is here to take forward ideas that the community decides are important, and in order to do so, we need more people to come forward and join Grŵp LlanNi Cyf. We are interested in all aspects of village life, for all ages and abilities.

Your input and support would be valuable, and greatly appreciated.
